Doris Jeanette Bank passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023 at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home at the age of 93. She was born in Bemiss, Georgia on January 6, 1930 to the late Mr. Barney and Jessie (Ruis) Padgett.
Ms. Doris lived life to its fullest, spending time in North Carolina and later years in Welaka, where she would reside until coming to Frank Wells Nursing Facility to be closer to her son about six years ago. Doris was a talented writer, having published several songs and even an autobiography titled ‘Doris Bank: My Life’. She enjoyed singing and writing poetry as well. She loved to spend her free time with family and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Joseph Padgett, Russell Padgett, and Bedia Lane; granddaughter: Tori Bridger; and her husband: Richard Bank.
She leaves behind her son: Harold (Brenda) Bridger of Jacksonville; grandchildren: Troy Bridger, Keith (Erica) Bridger, and Jason Weeks; great grandchildren: Veronica Bridger, Ashton Bridger, Nevaeh Bridger, Lainey Bridger, Brennan Robinson, Taylor York, and Stephanie Weeks; great-great granddaughter: Isabella Weeks; brother: Norman Padgett of Steinhatchee; and a sister: Marge Lucas of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Doris’ Life will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Bulmer officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:30 PM at the funeral home.
