Mr. Donald E. "Don" "Poppy" Brosseau, age 82 of Middleburg, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017. An Illinois native, Mr. Brosseau spent most of his life in Indiana and some time in North Carolina before settling in Middleburg. He had a long, successful career in the insurance industry and after thirty five years, retired as a Regional Claims Manager for Horace Mann Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Cigna Insurance. Mr. Brosseau was a family man who adored his wife and made her his priority. He was a loving father, mentor, and advisor to his children. He was a "self-made chef" who loved inventing his own recipes and cooking pancake breakfasts for his grandchildren. Mr. Brosseau enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and working in his yard. He also loved traveling, especially to the Midwest for the covered bridge festivals. He also was a collector of antique model cars and trucks. He was deeply loved by his family. He is survived by his wife of sixty years: Patricia Brosseau; sons: Todd Brosseau of Sarasota and Troy Brosseau of Avon, Indiana; daughters: Tari (Harlan) Slinkard of Jacksonville and Tanya (Michael) Frickenstein of Middleburg; brothers: Norman (Donna) Brosseau of Onarga, IL and Kenneth (Jo) Brosseau of Joliet, IL; sister: Betty Jean Windal of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Everett and Dorothy Brosseau and his step-mother: Mary Brosseau. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
