Mr. Dennis James "Butch" Lilly, age 62 of Jacksonville and formerly of Baker County, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017. Mr. Lilly grew up in Baker County and attended Baker County High School. He was a talented guitarist and drummer who dedicated himself to playing with his band, The Equalizers, of which he was a founding member. He also enjoyed restoring flea market finds to their original condition and was known as a sort of "Mr. Fix-it", as there was almost nothing he couldn't repair. Mr. Lilly was a kind-hearted man with a good sense of humor. He will also be remembered as being a humble, giving man who had a heart for animals. He is survived by his daughter: Kymberli (Adam) Howell of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren: Dallas Norman and Jasper Howell, both of Glen St. Mary; brother: William "Junior" Lilly of Macclenny; sister: Joyce Pridemore of Macclenny; companion: Sherry Sullivan of Jacksonville; lifelong friend and mother of his daughter: Marsha Bennett of Glen St. Mary; lifelong friend: Harley Holton; mother-in-law: Faye Bennett; his dog: Daisy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents: Cebert Otis Lilly and Arlene Gillispie Gray; sisters: Janet Mobley and Norma Lilly; and father-in-law: William Bennett. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Friday, December 1, 2017 at Road To Calvary Church, Glen St. Mary with Pastor Tommy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson.
