Mr. Clifton Barton, Sr., age 77 of Macclenny passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A true Baker Countian, Cliff was born on October 30, 1945 to the late Mr. Ressie and Agnes (Griffis) Barton. He would work as an asbestos worker and was a member of Local 13 since 1966. A well-respected businessman in Baker County, Mr. Barton owned Macclenny Seafood and was co-owner of B&B Palms, a palm tree nursery for many years. Cliff was loved by all who knew him and that was reflected in his twenty-year tenure as a County Commissioner.

Cliff loved the outdoors, mainly hunting and fishing. He was one who could always be counted on in a time of need and was well known for his famous chicken and rice. Cliff put family and God first, which was evident in any conversation you might have with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Alvin Barton, Arlie Barton, Charles Barton, John Barton, Phil Barton, and Pauline Byrd; and his son: Clifton “Mann” Barton, Jr.

He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-six years: Mrs. June (Davis) Barton of Macclenny; daughters: Wendy (Terry) Florio, Melissa (Michael) Harris, Dana (Earl) Driggers, and Brandy (Gene) Starling; fourteen grandchildren: twenty-eight great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; siblings: Hester (Joe) Johnson and Edward Barton; as well as a host of extended family members and a multitude of friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Road to Calvary Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tommy Anderson and Rev. Roger Luke officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.

Cliff was a man that loves like Jesus, unselfishly, kind, and unconditionally. He has always been there for those in need; rich or poor. He was always a giver, without expecting anything in return. A man that believed and trusted in his Lord and Savior. If there was one thing he could tell you, it would be “Love like Jesus!”.

Pallbearers will be Fred Raulerson, Terry Acosta, James Prevatt, Mark Crews, Billy Marsh, Jason Davis, and John Nicholas.
