Chester Leroy Walton, age 85 of Macclenny passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Community Hospice Center for Caring at Baptist Medical Center South. Chester was born in Henry, Tennessee on November 9, 1935 to the late Mr. John and Mary (Clement) Walton. He would go on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. He would eventually settle in Baker County and built his family’s home himself. He worked for many years with CSX Transportation before retiring. In his free time, Chester enjoyed maintaining his yard and gardening. He was a fan of the Florida Gators, but also rooted for his home state Tennessee Volunteers. Mr. Chester was a dedicated father but being a loving and adoring husband to his wife Mrs. Mary, or “Joan”, was his true treasure in life. They spent fifty-nine years together before her passing in 2019. He will be remembered by those who knew him best as a kind and gentle man.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Billy Walton; and his beloved wife: Mrs. Mary “Joan” Walton.

He is survived by his children: David (Andrea) Walton of Ponte Vedra, Doug (Dawn) Walton of Boston, Virginia, Kim (Dave) Davidson of Orlando, and Elizabeth Walton also of Boston, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters: Judy Nobles of Macon, Georgia, Pat Trusal of Ft. Myers, and Nancy Butler of Tennessee; as well as numerous extended family members.

Private family services will be held at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest with his dear Joan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that your condolences and sympathy cards be sent to the care of Mr. Walton’s daughter, Liz Walton, 9483 O’Bannons Mill Road, Boston, VA, 22713.
