Ret. CMC, Charles Douglas “Chuck” Lawson, age 67 of Macclenny passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Chuck was the son of Mr. Charles and Stella (Fisher) Lawson, born on February 10, 1957 in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Lawson would enlist in the United States Navy, dedicating thirty-one years of his life to serving his country, retiring as Command Master Chief (E9) at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. Upon retirement from the Navy, he would continue in aviation, working for Million Air as the general manager of Million Air Jacksonville-Cecil, specializing in corporate and military aircraft services.
Outside of a decorated career, Chuck treasured his time at home with family. He was a master griller and smoker, and enjoyed woodworking and tinkering around the house. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Stella Lawson.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Mrs. Mary Lawson of Macclenny; children: Charles “Chuck” (Cameo) Lawson of El Paso, Texas, Catherine (Shane) Smith of Crofton, Maryland, and Christopher (Brie) Lawson of Middleburg; grandchildren: Charlie, Michael, JD, and Jameson; sisters: Lynne (Tim) Estes of Georgia and Julie Lawson of Richmond, Virginia; as well as numerous extended family members and close friends.
A Celebration of Chuck’s Life will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Million Air Jacksonville-Cecil Hangar, 13365 Simpson Way, Jacksonville, Florida, 32221 with military honors to be rendered.
