Bobby Thrift

Bobby Thrift, a lifelong Baker County resident, passed from this life on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital, at the age of 86. Bobby was the son of Harley and Louise (Combs) Thrift, born on July 26, 1938. He would serve with the United States Army and receive an honorable discharge. Bobby spent his entire life farming on family land, but also worked at the Florida State Prison and the Northeast Florida State Hospital until his retirement. In his free time, Mr. Bobby enjoyed flying his airplane that he built himself, camping, and won several awards as a competitive shooter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty six years, Ms. Virginia Thrift of Macclenny; daughters, Lori (Jeff Fraser) Gifford of Jacksonville and Lisa (Mitch) Holtzclaw of O’Brien; grandchildren, Katee (Shannon) Davis, Will (Remi) Gifford, Dylan Gifford, Matthew (Paige) Yarborough, and Elizabeth (Matt) Lynn; great-grandchildren, Presley, Blade, Sophia, Nash, Shira, Luka, Knox, Atlas, and Ridge; brother, Dale (Sharon) Thrift of Macclenny; as well as several extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Church. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
