Betty Lou Horne

Betty Lou Horne, age 78 of Macclenny passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Macclenny Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. She was born on September 14, 1943 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Edward and Roseland (Hathcote) Lowery. Ms. Betty resided in Baker County until 1980, where she raised her family. She dedicated over ten years to the Baker County School Board, working in the cafeteria at Macclenny Elementary School. She also was very involved in church, teaching Sunday school for many years at Macclenny Revival Center, Macedonia Baptist Church, and Calvary Baptist Church. She loved taking care of her family, as well as many pets over the years. She would return to Macclenny, living here for the last fifteen years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Jimmy Lowery and Peewee Lowery.

She is survived by her sons: Cecil (Kelly) Horne of Macclenny and Clinton (Betty) Horne of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren: Ridge Horne, Kentleigh Horne, and Ava Horne; sisters: Joyce Lowery and Barbara Lowery; as well as extended family members.

The family will be receiving friends Friday, February 25, 2022 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Rev. Timmy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
