Barbara Darsey

Mrs. Barbara A. Darsey, age 75 of Sanderson and a longtime resident of Hazlehurst, GA, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015. Mrs. Darsey had a passion for God, family, and children. A member of the Redeemer Church of Madison in Madison, GA, she played piano by ear and loved playing church music. She enjoyed attending meetings with the ladies group at church. She was a retired substitute school teacher and an avid reader. She also was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. She is survived by her husband of fifty six years: John David Darsey of Sanderson, Florida; sons: John D. (Jodi) Darsey II of Rutledge, GA and George (Jennifer) Darsey II of Bethlehem, GA; daughter: Bambi (Joel) Barber of Sanderson, Florida; brother: Ronald (Janet) Shamlatee of Jacksonville, Florida; sister: Opal (Bob) Braswell of Perry, Florida; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Thelma Huckaby Kimball and sister: Ida Belle Nye. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst in Hazlehurst, GA with Reverend John Darsey, Reverend Mike Stone, and Reverend Toby Williams officiating.
