Ann Marie Strickland Sumner from Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024. She was 82. Ann was born in Alma, Georgia on November 13, 1942 to the late Riley Lee and Mary Magdalene Westberry Strickland.
She married the love of her life, George E. Brown in the summer of 1959 and they shared three children together. Eddie, Sherry and Lori. Ann and George were married for twenty one years before George passed away of cancer in 1980.
A few years later, Ann met and married Roderick Gene Bice. They were best friends, two peas in a pod, and lived an active, fun filled life. They enjoyed their time together. Often hopping in their RV to travel across the U.S. seeing the sights and visiting family. They loved going on cruises, staying in cabins and just enjoying themselves and their family. They loved Square Dancing and did it well. Ann was known for making their matching outfits. Early on they attended ceramic and silk flower classes. All of the kids got “home made gifts” that year. They loved their church and church family and they both loved and served The Lord with all their hearts.
Ann was the oldest of her siblings and loved and treasured her family and friends fiercely. If you ever called on her, she’d be there. Ann retired from Corporate Banking after thirty five years of service to be with Gene during his illness. Gene passed away in 2010.
Ann was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brothers, Riley Lee Strickland Jr, Dale Eugene Strickland; her sisters, Linda Diane Strickland and Carolyn Louise Strickland.
Ann is survived by her children, George Brown Jr (Theresa), Sherry Miles (Matt) and Lori Larramore (Bobby); grandchildren, George, Matina, Jennifer, William and Connor; her great grandchildren, Ben and Macy; and her brother, Donald Strickland.
Ann will be laid to rest beside George.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
