Alma M. Langston

Mrs. Alma M. Langston, age 86 of Smith Creek, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016. Mrs. Langston was born in the Salem community of Taylor County to the late Walter and Ethel Booth Hightower. She came to Wakulla County sixty six years ago, and along with her husband, was a long time beekeeper. Mrs. Langston was a retired clerk with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. She was very active in the Mt. Elon Baptist Church in the Smith Creek community, where she was a member. Mrs. Langston loved her family and was very involved with the upbringing of her grandchildren. She is survived by her son: T.W. Maurice (Judy) Langston of Hosford; and daughters: Teresa L. (James) Crum of Sopchoppy and Sheila L. (George) Kersey of Smith Creek; grandchildren: Tammy Ganey of Crawfordville, Brian Crum of Smith Creek, Cale (Felicia) Langston of Crawfordville, Justin (Olesia) Kersey of Russia, Elizabeth (Brian) Hosmer of Capitola, George (Bill) Kersey Jr. of Smith Creek, Michael Kersey of Tallahassee, and Scott Kersey of Smith Creek; and great grandchildren: Arielle and Melody Ganey, Alyssa and Caleb Langston, Jason and Allison Kersey, and Logan and Kalli Hosmer. She was preceded in death by her husband: Ted Langston; brothers: Lawrence and Emory Hightower; and grandson: Heath Langston. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Mt. Elon Baptist Church with Reverend Gordon Beal officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Elon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
