Algia Ervin Davis

Algia Ervin Davis, age 90 of Sanderson, passed away at his home on Monday, February 10, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on September 22, 1934, Algia was the son of Ervin and Eva (Dorman) Davis. A lifelong resident of Baker County, Mr. Davis was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He would work for twenty-two years for JEA until his retirement. Mr. Algia was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to bluegrass music, and playing poker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Kenneth Davis, Ray Davis, Emory Davis, Tholon Davis, Shirley Thompson, Lillian Kirkland, Gracie Harvey, and Lois Oralls; as well as two grandchildren, Derrick Thompson and Jessica Hodges.

He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-nine years, Mrs. Fairy Davis; daughters, Kim (James) Dodd of Jacksonville, Angie Rhoden and Marsha Thompson both of Sanderson; grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Hodges, Craig (Holly) Thompson, Teagan Rhoden, and Nikki Dean; five great-grandchildren; sister, Patsy (Lee) Boyette of Fernandina; as well as a host of nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 with Rev. Tommy Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery.

The staff of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home is honored to serve the Davis family during their time of loss.
