Alene Harrell Whaley

Alene Harrell Whaley, age 73 of Crawfordville passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare. Born in Sopchoppy to the late Mr. Barney and Pauline (Crum) Harrell, Sr. on April 4, 1948, Alene was a lifelong resident of Wakulla County. She worked as a hair dresser and owned her own salon in Tallahassee for many years, Alene’s Shear Design. In her free time, Mrs. Whaley enjoyed vacationing at the beach and in the mountains. She loved to cook and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Fonso Harrell.

She is survived by her beloved husband: Emmett “Clayton” Whaley of Crawfordville; daughter: Alicia (Matt) Barber of Crawfordville; granddaughter: Emma; brothers: Kennis (Delinda) Harrell and Barney (Diane) Harrell, Jr. all of Sopchoppy; sister: Ilene (John) Akers of Crawfordville; as well as extended family members.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM at West Sopchoppy Cemetery with Elder Bruce Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery an hour prior to services.
